My Story
Hello and welcome! I’m Lucy, your AFPA Certified Health and Wellness Coach at Good Thyme Wellness, amongst other things! I have worn many hats over the years, and continue to don an assortment of bonnets, focusing my daily attention on the stewardship and practice of holistic health, herbalism, homesteading, and recovery. Working in the hospitality industry taught me a lot about how to people. Reading a person’s energy, empathy, and active listening are vital skills that allow me to craft meaningful questions to navigate the individual wellness journey.
The last several years have been a journey to reconnect with myself, my roots, and my terroir. Terroir may sound like an odd word choice for a sober person to use, but my background in hospitality, working as a bartender in New Orleans, taught me to appreciate the magic of the taste of soil in a sip of wine. I like to think that in the years that I spent away from New Hampshire, the people I encountered along the way were able to detect the nuanced profile that this land has impressed upon me.
My home has sat on Abenaki land in what is now called Chesterfield, NH, since 1850. Together with my husband, we raise a menagerie of Nigerian Dwarf Goats, chickens, a goose, a dog, and a cat who are thought of more like children than domestic companions. During the growing season, the gift of long hours of sunlight allows me to spend mornings and evenings in the garden cultivating medicinal plants and vegetables. Stewardship of this land, historic farmhouse, and animals is a source of much joy through diligent care (and hard work). My weekdays are spent working full-time as a recovery coach, which allows me a eudaimonic satisfaction that (I hope) cosmically offsets any damage that I might have caused over the course of my many years of hedonism while working as a bartender.
The holistic approach recognises that we are each so much more than the sum of our parts. My lived experience has equipped me with a diverse skill set to serve people who are looking to make meaningful change through values-driven lifestyle changes. While focusing on the eight dimensions of wellness, coaching may be an instrumental tool in deciding to relocate or change your environment, quit smoking, explore joyful movement, adopt nourishing dietary habits, spend more time with loved ones, or even take prescribed medications as directed. Sober curious? You’ve landed in the right place. Small changes lead to cascading benefits, and your goals are best served by honoring your personal values. What could you do if you were liberated from a bad habit? What would it mean to you to start a daily practice of self-care? Let us dig deeper together to learn more about what meaningful change would bring to your life, and connect to your why to get there.
